This policy explains what personal data Petindr collects, why, and the choices you have. Petindr is operated by Prometheon ([registered company name, number and address]), the data controller for the information described here. We follow the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What we collect
- Waitlist: your name, email address, postcode area (for example SW11), whether you are looking for a pet, own one, breed or run a rescue, and whether you are interested in dogs, cats or both.
- Your account: name, email, password (stored only as a secure hash), roles, and your postcode area if you give it.
- Household profile: home type, garden, hours the home is empty, children, other pets and activity level. We use it to explain how well a pet fits your home.
- Pet Passport and companion: details, records and routines for your pets, and the tasks you log.
- Messages and reports: conversations with sellers and rescues, viewing requests, and any reports or blocks you make.
- Sellers: seller type, council breeding licence number and council, and identity-check references. Identity documents are checked by [identity verification supplier].
- Technical data: essential storage to keep you signed in and remember settings; analytics only if you agree (see our cookie policy).
Why we use it, and our lawful basis

Who we share it with
We share data only with suppliers who help us run Petindr (hosting, email, identity checks), under contracts that protect it, and with the seller or rescue you choose to message. We never sell your data. When a pet moves home, its Pet Passport transfers to the new owner. Location sharing and littermate connections are opt-in only.

How long we keep it
Waitlist details until you leave the list or the waitlist closes. Account data while your account is open, then [retention period]. Records needed for legal or safeguarding reasons may be kept longer.
Your rights
